WMG Historic Restoration Services

Preservation Carpentry & Millwork

Preservation carpentry is a specialized form of carpentry work involving dutchman repairs (where we meticulously splice custom-made patches and repairs into existing wood), epoxy consolidation and other miscellaneous repairs to custom millwork.

We have a fully operational millwork shop where we custom make all our moldings and trim elements based on original stock.  We use reclaimed longleaf pine, Honduran mahogany and Spanish cedar to make exact matches of crown moldings, window sills and exterior moldings.

Wood Window Restoration

We are one of the only companies in the Philadelphia region who restore original wood windows.  We provide complete restoration services of your original windows including: sash restoration, reglazing, painting, weatherstripping, and period hardware restoration and installation in order to make old windows energy efficient and weathertight.

Wood Window Manufacturing

WMG Historic Restoration provides custom made wood windows, either with insulated glass or traditional putty glazing.  Our IG true-divided light sash can be installed on jamb-liners or weights and chains and look just like traditional putty-glazed windows.  We manufacture these sash from Honduran and Philippine mahogany or white oak and back them up with a LIFETIME guarantee on joinery and rot-resistance.  We have installed hundreds of our windows for customers such as Chestnut Hill College, Rutgers University, and the Westmont Theater.

Custom Wood Doors

Whether you are looking for interior panel doors or an exterior entryway door, WMG Historic Restoration can custom design and build  any door.  Every door is custom-designed for historic application. We  have provided doors for such customers such as the National Parks Service and Rutgers University.

Custom Storm Windows

Our custom mahogany storm windows are made to blend in with the exterior of your home.  We make these storms with mortise/tenon joinery and removable glass and screen inserts.  These inserts can be removed from the interior, eliminating the need for taking the wooden frames off every season.  Our storms are painted to match your home's color scheme in and will outlast and outperform an aluminum storm.

Hand Drawn Shop Drawings

Every custom-built project is hand drawn before going into the building and manufacturing process.  Our shop drawings are works of art in themselves and are an example of our "old-school" approach to the entire process of designing and building our windows, doors and millwork.

WMG Historic Restoration restores millwork and windows in buildings constructed prior to 1950.  We provide service throughout the Delaware Valley.

Please note we are currently only accepting commercial projects and residential jobs of twenty windows or more.
